Subject: Planning - Creating A Calendar
Event: 12/12
My wife's jealousy is getting ridiculous. The other day she looked at my calendar and wanted to know who May was. -Rodney Dangerfield
The twelfth day of the twelfth month is the perfect day to consider calendars. As we approach a new year, everyone should be prepared with a new calendar. Also, a calendar is a wonderfully appropriate holiday gift.
Imagine you were to design your own calendar. You might begin by thinking about things that come in twelve, such as:
Twelve Birthstones
Twelve Days of Christmas
Twelve Labors of Hercules
Twelve Signs of the Zodiac
Twelve Greek Gods
Twelve Jurors from the film “Twelve Angry Men”
A dozen donuts - one different variety for each month of the year.
Of course, you don’t need to limit yourself just to things that come in twelve; instead, you can come up with any calendar theme based on one of your interests, as long as you can generate a list of at least twelve different items:
Here are some examples:
Twelve Cognitive Biases
Twelve Logical Fallacies
Twelve Greatest Philosophers
Twelve Greatest Novels
Twelve Best Philosophical Films
Twelve Historical Milestones
Twelve Greatest Inventions
Twelve Best Methods for Study
Twelve Strategies for Being More Creative
Twelve Memory Strategies
Twelve Rhetorical Strategies for Persuasion
Twelve Greatest Speeches in History
Recall, Retrieve, Recite, Ruminate, Reflect, Reason: What are examples of things that come in twelves?
Challenge - Creative Calendar: Brainstorm some ideas for your own unique calendar theme. Then, sketch out your calendar by creating twelve boxes, each box with an idea that goes with your overall theme.
